The Supreme Court of India Museum sits within the Supreme Court complex on Tilak Marg in New Delhi and traces the story of justice in India. One section covers the evolution and development of the judiciary, with Harappan seals, the head of a priest, an Ashokan edict and a 9th century Nalanda copper plate, alongside the legal system of the British period. A second section covers the Federal Court and the Supreme Court, displaying antique furniture, souvenirs, ceremonial costumes and wigs, and files from landmark judgements including the records of the Mahatma Gandhi murder case and the Indira Gandhi assassination case. Regular film shows on the history of the Supreme Court are screened for visitors. Entry is free and photography is strictly prohibited.
