Rashtrapati Bhavan, the official residence of the President of India, is an iconic H shaped mansion designed by Edwin Lutyens and completed in 1929 after 17 years of construction. Spread over 5 acres within a 330 acre estate, it has 340 rooms across four floors and nearly 2.5 kilometres of corridors, with a Sanchi stupa inspired dome, chhatris and intricate jali work blending Indian and classical design. Originally built as the Viceroy House, it was renamed Rashtrapati Bhavan after independence and today stands as a symbol of India democratic traditions and cultural heritage. The guided Main Building visit takes you through landmark halls such as Ganatantra Mandap, Ashok Mandap, the Banquet Hall, the Library and the North Drawing Room.
